Made by a blacksmith. With a hanging hook, over a twisted iron shaft with an adjoining iron hooped splint holder with sprung arm. Terminating on a rectangular shaped drip pan base, supported by four raised legs. These devices were made to hold a wooden splint within the iron hoop (secured under tension by the spring). The splint was then lit to provide light. Provenance
